The Russian Armed Forces simulate an advantage in the Lyman direction: the ISW explained the enemy's strategy (maps)
The enemy fought in different directions: to the northwest of the city near Drobyshev and neighboring villages, as well as to the north near Stavoki. Other clashes took place to the northeast near Myrny and Kolodyazy and to the southeast near Yampol. At the same time, Russian media bloggers reported that Ukrainian troops launched a counterattack between Drobyshev and Stavky.
The spokesman of the Ukrainian brigade operating in the Lyman region said that Russian soldiers avoid direct clashes and hide in basements and dugouts, waiting for reinforcements. The command of the Russian Federation orders to raise flags for propaganda and creating the illusion of numerical superiority. Also, in this direction, unknown elite units of drones, probably from the Center for Advanced Unmanned Technologies "Rubikon", were involved to block Ukrainian ground communications.
In September, Ukrainian EW operators neutralized about 1,200 Russian FPV drones, which exceeds the figure for August (~1,000 drones). In other directions, on October 21–22, the enemy also carried out attacks in the north of Sumy and Kharkiv regions, in the areas of Veliky Burluk, Kupyansk and Borovskaya communities, but there was no significant advance.
Offensive actions continued in the Siver region, in the Kostyantynivka–Druzhkivka, Novopavlivka, Gulyaipil region, and in the west of the Zaporizhia region, as well as in the Velikomykhailiv and Kherson regions, but the results remain minimal. Ukrainian troops continue successful operations. In the tactical area of Dobropill, the Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated Kucheriv Yar, northeast of the city, and captured more than 50 Russian prisoners of war.
Geolocation footage confirms the attacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Lyman direction, in particular the destruction of a Russian BTR-82A armored personnel carrier north of Stavoki. In the Pokrovsk region, Russian troops advanced only to the southeast of Mirnograd during a mechanized assault. Focus previously wrote that, despite the daily fighting in Ukraine, Russia has probably already started preparing for the next major conflict.
