Three series about people and their mistakes: an echo of Afghan, a prison maniac and cyberwar with Russia
The CIA CIA Agency Dan Chase (Jeff Bridges) has long been retired and has been living a hermit in the north of New York for thirty years. He tolerates a local doctor's inaccuracy, communicates with the ghost of a deceased wife, remembers espionage in Afghanistan. One day, Dan's nighttime dream is not the habitual nightmare, but a chunky look, a man who climbed into the old house clearly with bad intentions.
However, Dan is not lost and slammed his formidable Rottweilers on the stranger, and then pursues a blatant shot in the head. This is how the final operation with the participation of the former agent begins, the purpose of which becomes himself. The reason is the enemy of the sins of the past that Dan has committed when he destroyed Russian in Afghan.
This complex tangle is gradually unwound, and important nodules on it are the mysterious daughter Dan, his former partner (as always the grand John Litgou), a new mistress, a brother, who became an enemy. It is difficult not to love the series, where in the first series, the main character pushes a speech about Russian soldiers who rape and kill children and women in Afghanistan.
As with many other beautiful serials of 2022 (for example, in the last season, strange miracles) have felt the old man from where the evil blows in the world. They felt, laid and returned to their history. The old man is a powerful dramatic spy thriller not about sins, but about the strong grip of the past. And the fact that there are no former operatives.
Beautifully old Bridges (this is his first role after successful fight against leukemia) treats Dan Chase on the border of two worlds: James Bond in retirement and samurai without the owner - Ronin. That is, we have the perfect spy - a seductive manipulator and a ruthless murder. It is significant that in one of the Chase series imagines that in order to solve a difficult situation, he will have to kill his new girlfriend. It does not reach this, but the cold -blooded thought makes.
At the same time, Chase is not a psychopath. He has spied, fought all his life, made difficult decisions from a moral point of view, and in this respect the old man was also about the professional. As the former spy said to the same girlfriend who calculated to kill: "Once learning to read people, the process will no longer stop. " Jeffa Bridges managed to create a character you admire, be afraid, listening and for whom you are worried.
And the old series will be useful for those who enjoy dramatic plots, where people are struggling with the consequences of their actions and where the spooky action alternates with deep literary dialogues. A strong exit in the genre of criminal drama about Manyak. Something like a Fincherian hunter by reason (a real story described in the autobiographical book by the main character of the series is also at the heart of the bird), only here is a hunt for one serial killer.
And his guilt still needs to be proved. The talented football player James Kin receives a sports scholarship and enters the college. In college, the guy realizes that he has another talent - to the drug trafficking. However, one day of his activity comes an end: the large estate of James is broken by operatives and taken to his department, drugs and a small collection of weapons. The guy concludes an agreement, but he is still a top ten.
In prison, James quickly learns and even starts a small business: leases porn joints. And then unexpectedly receives a new proposal from the Federals: if he agrees to be imprisoned for maniacs and recantivists and in the short term to bring to the clean water of a serf of a serf of Larry Hall in a short time - more suspected of killing more than ten women, but there is no hundred percent evidence - James will forgive everything and let go.
The proposal is only at first glance, because the risk to Kin's life is growing to heaven, and he already has poor experience with deals. However, James, of course, agrees. The game begins.
