Ukraine can start negotiations with the Russian Federation after a conference in Switzerland - Kuleba

According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, more than 200 rounds of negotiations with Moscow, since 2014, have led to a full -scale invasion. Therefore, first it is necessary to form a coalition of countries that will share the principles of Kiev. Ukraine can begin negotiations with Russia after the results of a peaceful summit in Switzerland form a coalition of countries that share the same principles and approaches.

This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleb in an interview with Foreign Politics, published on May 1. Kuleba noted that since 2014, when Russia began its aggression against Ukraine, Kiev has held more than 200 rounds of negotiations with Moscow, which have not led to anything and eventually ended a full -scale war. "Therefore, we know that there is no point in planting Russia at the negotiation table, if you cannot guarantee that it will act honestly.

There are only two ways to bring Russia to a situation where it will act honestly. The first is success in the battlefield and the second - Creating a coalition of countries that share the same principles and approaches, ”Kuleba explained. It is for this reason that Russia's participation at the summit is not planned, Kuleba added. This is due to the fact that the main purpose of this event is to unite countries that share common principles and approaches to identify future steps.

However, negotiations with Russia can begin. "Communication with Russia may then be part of the negotiation. Because you are right: in the end, you cannot put an end to the war without both sides," Kuleba notes. We will remind, in the same interview the head of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba stated that half of the energy infrastructure of the country was damaged as a result of Russian shelling.
