20 hours of torture: As the Natives of the DPRK have to work in Russia (video)
The BBC exclusive investigation exposes the system of forced labor: thousands of DPRK citizens torment the construction under conditions that violate all international rules. Six fugitives who managed to escape from slavery described the horrific details of their existence. The working day lasts 18-20 hours, the weekend is practically absent, and for any guilt is followed by cruel punishment. Workers sleep in unusable containers or directly at construction sites.
Most earnings (up to 90%) are automatically sent to the DPRK's treasury. The workers themselves receive only $ 100-200 a month, this money is issued only after returning home-a special mechanism to prevent escapes. Each group of five people is accompanied by northern Korean security agents. Exit outside the construction sites is forbidden, the documents are confiscated. Once a week, forced "self -criticism sessions" is carried out, where they are forced to recognize the faithfulness of Kim Jong.
According to the BBC data, more than 13,000 North Koreans had already entered Russia in 2024 - 12 times more than last year. Sources report plans to increase this figure to 50 thousand. Particularly disturbing is the possibility of being sent to the occupied territories of Ukraine. Such practice grossly violates the sanctions of the UN, which prohibit the use of North Korean labor abroad.
However, according to the facts, Moscow and Pyongyang deliberately ignore international norms, creating a system of organized slave trade. We will remind that in June the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoigu confirmed the plans to attract 5,000 North Korean workers to rebuild the Kursk region. According to South Korean intelligence, they can also be sent to the occupied territories of Ukraine.
