Putin is afraid of Seoul's reactions to sending soldiers from the DPRK to Ukraine - analytics (video)
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea summoned Russia's ambassador to South Korea George Zinoviev in connection with reports of the deployment of North Korean servicemen in Russia. Earlier it became known that they train at four landfills and one of them is located in the Far East, not far from the border with the DPRK.
The Russian Embassy in South Korea mistakenly represented Zinoviev's call as a voluntary meeting, not as a diplomatic challenge and, in particular, stated that any cooperation between Russia and North Korea was not directed against Seoul's security interests. The Kremlin Prescribe Dmitry Peskov said that the cooperation of Russia and North Korea "should not cause concern" in other states, and that information about the probable presence of North Korean troops in Russia may be "contradictory".
The obvious desire of the Kremlin to assure South Korea that its cooperation with North Korea is not a threat to Seoul, indicates that the Kremlin is very concerned about the perspective that official Seul will send tools to Ukraine and provide military support. It will also be able to make Russia's stay in the Asia-Pacific region uncomfortable.
Earlier, Russia tried to achieve Seoul's commitment to soften the consequences of its increasing dependence on North Korea, the ISW's military experts say. We will remind, it was the intelligence of South Korea that reported that Kim Jong -in sent his soldiers to Russia. Now the Government and the South Korea's military is considering the plan of sending the relevant number of staff, including intelligence officers (North Korea experts) and enemy tactics experts in Ukraine.
