Skynex air defense systems will be launched in Ukraine: what is known about anti -aircraft installations (video)
The first battery has already arrived in Ukraine, the second will be set in March this year. "We were told that Skynex is working well in Ukraine, and the reviews will be very important for further improvement of the system," said Alessandro Ercolny CEO. The Skynex anti -aircraft complex is the evolution of the Sky Guard system that has a radar with a range of 50 km, a command point and four guns, each of which is equipped with electro -optical sensors and a radar of tracking.
Guns are able to produce 1000 pieces of 35 mm shells per minute, affecting the target at a distance of four kilometers. When approaching the whole ammunition, the system is opened, ejecting hundreds of small tungsten cylinders that form a destructive cloud. To open the projectiles at the right moment, their speed is controlled by the sensor when they fly out of the gun trunk, and the electronics in the trunk program the time of opening the projectile accordingly.
The range of the target reaches 4 km, according to Erlany, Skynex was designed to fight, in particular, with unmanned aircraft and barrading ammunition. "The advantage of the system is that it was designed to combat small, low and slow threats, and it is cost -effective compared to the use of a missile worth millions to destroy the drone," he added.
