A man named Yevhen, who fought against Ukrainians as part of the "Wagner" PVC, was deported from the territory of the state back home, Yle reports with reference to the Border Service of North Karelia. The department stated that they are publishing information about this specific case in connection with the dissemination of data about his past.

The Border Service said the deported man had a military background, but declined to provide further details. Earlier, the authorities confirmed that he had applied for international protection in Finland. "I ran away from the war to get asylum in another country. I am on active duty and left my unit. . . I just came to seek asylum. I just want to live and I don't want war," he said. They did not initiate a case against him for illegal crossing of the border.

He was detained in Kitea on June 17 after illegally crossing the border into Russia in a wooded area along the border. The man was detected by the agency's video surveillance system. According to Yle, sensors on the border with Finland went off, and the patrol decided to take him. The day after his arrest, he turned to the Joensuu police, saying that he had crossed the border illegally, "without the possibility of receiving protection and assistance in Europe.

" Yevhen said that Finland is the closest place to cross the border with Russia. He also admitted that he planned the trip himself, adding that no one helped him or advised him, except for two friends who gave him a ride in a car not far from the border. Then, the man said, he hiked through the wooded area toward Finland using his smartphone and the AlpineQuest outdoor recreation app. Evgeny is quite a media personality and often appeared in propaganda media videos.

Earlier in the interview, he talked about the battles in Ukraine and claimed that he voluntarily joined the Russian army in 2022, was trained as part of "Wagner" and took part in operations in Bakhmut. He also served as a company commander in the 433rd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and participated in battles in the east of Ukraine, in particular near Selidov and Bakhmut.

In one of the videos, a "Wagnerian" tells how his unit blew up a car with Ukrainian soldiers in Selidovo. He disappeared from public space after the battles for Selidove in the fall of 2024. In his public accounts on social networks, he published videos criticizing the Russian military leadership, accusing it of treason and lies. He has a criminal record for robbing a jewelry store in Omsk in the fall of 2023. Instead of serving the term, he went to the front.
