"You are not waiting here": a ban on the entry of Russians in the EU through the Baltic States and Poland came into force

From now on, Russian citizens will not be able to use a number of EU countries for entry, even for transit, and the process of registration of Schengen visas for Russians has been complicated. From the north Monday, September 19, the ban on the entry of Russians with Schengen visas into Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland came into force. The ban applies to those visas owners who have received them to other EU countries.

The relevant step of the four countries announced in a joint statement published on September 8. According to the new rules, Russians will also not be able to use Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland as a transit country. "Exceptions will be saved for dissidents, humanitarians, family members, owners of accommodation, to facilitate the transportation of goods and transport services, diplomatic missions, transit objects for travelers in and from Kaliningrad, etc.

," the heads of governments assured jointly statement. "Russians, do not try to cross the border, do not expect you here, stop the war against Ukraine and get away from this beautiful country!" - Latvia Minister Edgar Rinkevich commented the initiative. At the same time, the prime ministers declared the need to give dissidents from the Russian Federation the opportunity to leave the territory of the aggressor state.

The Russian tour operators also reported that these four countries, as well as Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands, no longer accept documents for tourist visas. It should be noted that at the level of the entire EU, they also decided to cancel the simplified visa regime with the Russian Federation. For ordinary Russians, this means: in addition, Switzerland has been abolished from now on the simplified visa regime for Russian citizens.

For them, the cost of the visa increased from 35 to 80 euros, registration period - from 5 to 15 days, abolished benefits for students, athletes and truckers. We will remind, recently in Estonia they were deprived of a permanent certificate for residence of a man with citizenship of the Russian Federation, who in the summer of this year demanded that two Ukrainian refugees speak in Russian.
