They wanted to take much money: Western weapons disappeared in Ukraine in the first months of the war - Pentagon

According to government officials, there were several cases in general, until Washington was able to come personally and check the state of assistance. In the United States of America, some facts of the abduction of Western weapons in Ukraine, which managed to turn back. This is stated in the report of the Pentagon General Inspector, writes CNN on July 20. According to him, in the first months of the war there were times when the weapon suddenly disappeared, but was still found and removed.

Moreover, Americans could not visit the places where all the help packages they and other allies passed the Armed Forces were preserved from February to September last year. This significantly complicated monitoring. By the way, although there are regular inspections from October last year, the European command of the United States has tried to soften this problem and takes a receipt from Kiev, which is "honestly provided".

At the same time, criminal organizations still managed to steal some weapons and equipment that Washington handed over to Kiev with other allies. It happened in June last year with one of the groups, which was under the leadership of a Russian official and joined a volunteer battalion. They used fake documents, which made it possible to steal a grenade launcher and a machine gun, as well as more than 1000 rounds. Fortunately, Ukrainian intelligence promptly revealed this crime.

This is not the only crime that was committed during the war. One of the groups wanted to sell weapons and ammunition that were abducted on the front line and the other, who issued themselves for volunteers of humanitarian organizations, stole bulletproof vests worth $ 17,000, said in the report. In August 2022, a crime was reopened, which was revealed to the special services of Ukraine.
