With the help of the Russian Federation: the DPRK plans the third attempt to launch a spy satellite - Yonhap

The South Korean military monitor Pyongyang to identify the signs of different provocations on the eve of the first anniversary of the launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile. The Joint Committee of South Korea headquarters was concerned about a possible third attempt to launch a DPRK spy satellite in November 2023. About it reports Yonhap.

In North Korea, on November 18, the Day of the Missile Industry was announced in honor of the successful test launch of the intercontinental ballistic missile "Bakon-17", which occurred last year.

The representative of the Committee of Chiefs of Staff of Li Son Zhong reported that the Armed Forces of South Korea were tracking the DPRK in order to identify possible features of preparation and conduct of various provocations on the eve of the anniversary of the first successful launch of the intercontinental ballistic missile.

"The intelligence agencies of South Korea and the United States are working closely to track and control the possibilities of North Korea various provocations, including the third start of what it calls a space companion," Zhun said. Earlier, North Korea made two unsuccessful attempts to bring the reconnaissance satellite in May and August, respectively, and promised to repeat the attempt in October, but did not invest in time.

Last week, South Korea Defense Minister Sin Jon Jui said that the DPRK probably postponed its plan of the third launch of the spy satellite to eliminate technological failures in the system through Russia. Recall that on May 31, North Korea announced that the launch of a military satellite was failure, as the rocket could not reach a given orbit and fell into the yellow sea due to engine problems.
