Sergei buried him in the forest belt on the banks of the Kuban River. On June 10, Alona Borkova announced the police about the disappearance of the child. According to her, the son disappeared when they were resting near the river. Dozens of volunteers, police officers and local rescuers joined the search for the missing boy. The operation was performed almost during the day.

However, after the law enforcement officers watched the records of CCTV cameras in the entrance of the house, which shows how Sergei carried a bag, suspicions fell on him.
