Very vulnerable: why the Russian Federation will hunt for ASC 890 aircraft that Ukraine will receive - media

According to journalists, DRLS planes are very vulnerable. The same Russian Air Force entered a war with 8 or 9 DRLS A-50 aircraft and have already lost two of them. Russia will hunt ASC 890 (it is also called SAAB 340 AEW) from the first day), which Ukraine will receive from Sweden. Forbes writes about it. According to journalists, these are aircraft of long -range radar tracking (DRLS).

Paul Jonson, the Minister of Defense of Sweden, stated that planes with radars set up above Ukraine are a new means of struggle with both air and maritime purposes. However, it is reported that DRLS planes are very vulnerable. The same Russian Air Force entered a war with 8 or 9 DRLS A-50 aircraft and have already lost two of them. The material states that a pair of Swedish aircraft DRLS may be even more vulnerable than A-50. A-50 has four jet engines.

The SAAB 340 has a two-turbot engine that allows the machine to fly at a lower speed than the A-50. It is reported that the Russian Air Force has a R-37M air-air rocket. The carriers of such rockets are MiG-31bm. They fly near the Russian-Ukrainian border. R-37M missiles threaten almost all of Ukraine's airspace. Moreover, the ASC 890 is not very shunting. The publication writes that DLS aircraft is very difficult to hide. When their radars are turned off, they actually do not do their work.

The US Air Force is already departing from the practice of using such aircraft and is increasingly tolerating early satellite warning tasks. According to journalists, Ukraine will not abandon DRLS aircraft, however, in order not to lose them, it will have to find a way to reduce the risks that you can face through Russian missiles. The ASC 890 may fly infrequently and unpredictably, and their radars will keep off until the last possible second.
