According to the department, the purpose of the non -existent boat was the vessels that performed the tasks of control of navigation 237 kilometers from Sevastopol. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that on August 17 at 22:55 the Ukrainian unmanned boat allegedly attacked the ships of the Navy of Russia in the Black Sea. This was stated in the press service of the department.

It is reported that the vessels performed tasks for the control of navigation in the southwestern part of the Black Sea, 237 km southwest of Sevastopol. "During the reflection of the attack, the enemy boat was destroyed by fire from the onboard weapons of the Black Sea Fleet ships - the Wedding Ship and the Vasily Beykov patrol ship, not reaching the purpose of the attack," the message reads. The Ministry of Defense of the aggressor country noted that the ships continued to fulfill their tasks.
