For the first time since 1908: The British Army abolished the ban on beards with the support of King Charles III
The high-ranking officer Sergeant-Major Paul Carni confirmed the change of rules in a four-minute video published on the YouTube channel The Independent. The abolition of a hundred -year ban will allow to grow a "full" beard up to 2. 5 cm long. The beards should be trimmed on the cheeks and neck, without "spotted or uneven growth", without the color released.
Paul Carney, a 1st class wire officer (category of servicemen between the sergeant and officers), at the same time insists that the beard should be neat for compliance with the standards. The ban on front vegetation has been in effect since 1908. Soldiers of the Land Forces were now leveled in rights with sailors who have been bearded for centuries, and pilots, for which a similar ban was made in 2019. Soldiers will be able to return to barracks with vegetation after the future Easter vacations.
According to the officer of Karney, this decision did not come to this decision immediately. Among other things, politicians, allies and his majesty, King Charles III assisted. They also consulted with current military and army veterans. Senior officers hope that weakening in the rules contributes to the set of army staff. The British islands can declare general military service if the country has to go to war with Russia, because now "the armed forces are too small", warns the army leadership.
