The defendant was a friend of childhood of a missing serviceman. He convinced the woman that in the case of reporting the death of her husband on the results of DNA research, she should not believe such information. In Kryvyi Rih in Dnipropetrovsk, a serviceman of the Armed Forces, a driver of a machine gun department, who had blown over UAH 1 million in his godparents - the wives of the missing military. This is stated in the sentence of the Central City District Court of Kryvyi Rih.

According to the materials of the court, the defendant from childhood was friends with a man who disappeared on August 7, 2023 near the settlement of the Pryutne Pologovsky district of Zaporizhzhya region. From October 2023, his wife began to receive payments for him, which are provided for by law to the families of missing servicemen. The disappeared friend learned about these payments and invented a way to crush them from a burnt wife.

He told the woman that her husband is alive and is held captive and that he has acquaintances - influential officials of the SBU bodies, who have experience in extraordinary exchange, liberation and return to the territory of Ukraine of prisoners of war. According to him, they can provide such services for cash and organize the ransom of her husband from captivity and return home.

For plausibility, he used another phone, which he sent a message to find out the state of the case with his friend's return home and where he then sent the answers and showed them kumi. He, as a "mediator," took money for expenses related to the redemption of her husband from captivity, negotiation with authorized representatives of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, transportation costs, providing means of communication, treatment, accommodation, food, etc.

He ordered the woman not to tell strangers, otherwise everything could break. He also convinced her that in the case of reporting her to establish the fact of her husband's death according to the results of DNA research, she should not believe such information. The money that the woman sent a fictional "SBU servant" was spent on drugs and online casinos. From October 12, 2023 to March 19, 2024, the defendant took possession of the victim's cash for a total amount of 1 million 196 thousand 143 UAH.

In the end, the victim began to doubt the constant promises of Kum and turned to the real security service of Ukraine. In court, the man fully pleaded guilty. He said that he had dependence on psychotropic substances and played online from the beginning of a full-scale invasion, and on February 22, 2023 he was mobilized to the army. During the day, a man could lose up to 200 thousand in one day.
