The US has reworked the drone Switchblade 300 for the Armed Forces: what was the main drawback of ammunition
In addition to the new combat part, the platform has received a number of improvements: an extended set of sensors, a panoramic camera, a touch interface with several angles of guidance, a custom selection of the blasting point and an increased range due to an additional antenna. However, accurate tactical and technical characteristics (range, mass of warheads, seeding time, etc. ) are not revealed into the presellers.
Commenting on the news, Defense Express observers noted that for Ukraine the updated Switchblade 300 is especially relevant: since 2022, this type has already been used in defense, but its initial combat part was compared only with a shot of 40 mm grenade launcher, which limited the use.
Therefore, the 300 version was more commonly used to destroy valuable unbroken goals-Reb-stations, small control points, sensors and individual air defense systems-while the shot of armored vehicles was considered ineffective and ineconomic.
With the introduction of a modular "shock core" Switchblade 300 receives greater tactical flexibility, while the ammunition remains an effective means of a point impact against a variety of goals, including strengthened positions and lightweight armored vehicles, although it retains high costs compared to FPV.
