"We need to get used to the idea that there may be a threat of war in Europe," Pistorius said.

According to the head of the German defense department, conflicts in the Middle East and Russia's military actions against Ukraine should cause a reaction in German society. He emphasized the importance that Germany is ready for self -defense, including both the Armed Forces (Bundesver) and the civilian population. At the same time, Germany, he said, will take all the necessary measures within the Middle East conflict in order to prevent its further escalation.

Pistorius rejected the accusation that the Federal Government was reacting too slowly to the so -called turning point, saying: "It is simply impossible to accelerate the process as it is now. " He stressed that a special fund for financing the Bundeswehr of 100 billion euros was created, and changes in its structure took place. However, Pistorius noted that the Bundesver was "neglected" for a long time.

"Unfortunately, all the shortcomings that have accumulated in 30 years in just 19 months," the minister emphasized. However, Pistorius assured that by the end of this decade, Germany would be in a completely different situation.
