African leaders ignored Putin: more than half will not come to the Summit in the Russian Federation
On July 25, the Russian edition of The Moscow Times reports. Of the 54 countries of the African continent, only 17 will be represented at the summit by the Head of State. Another 10 countries will send Prime Ministers to Russia, and most others will send delegations led by Viceremer, Minister or Just Ambassador. Five African states decided to ignore the summit at all.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia assured that they are not offended by countries that have not sent their heads of states to Russia. "We have invited the heads of all African states. We are not entitled to have claims, because, first, they could have other pre-planned measures that demanded the participation of their leaders. And secondly, everyone is doing what they can," Oleg Olezerov said, the Ambassador from special MFA.
According to Russian journalists, the Africa Summit is scheduled for July 27-28, and Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his intention to personally meet with each of the leaders of African states arriving. The Kremlin has already stated that the Russian president will prepare a significant speech in which he will discuss the "New World order", based on "multipolarity and equality" of all states.
