Helma-P laser weapons were tested for the first time on the ship: will "smoke" drones and ships (video)

Helma-P 2 kW with high accuracy is affected by drones up to 1 km away. France's naval forces and Cilas conducted combat tests of the laser system to destroy the Helma-P drones installed on board the Forbin frigate. About it reports Naval News. High -energy laser laser laser (High Energy Laser with Multiple Applications) was developed by Cilas and Ariane Group in 2019.

The system consists of a 2-axial turlet with a number of optical sensors and the laser module of 2 kilovaty, it is driven by one operator through a special interface. Cilas assures that Helma-P is able to hit UAV at a distance of 1 km, which is 3-4 times farther compared to competitors' technologies. The developers are currently checking how effectively the system can "smoke" other goals, such as high -speed combat boats and antennas of enemy ships.

At the Paris Air Force in 2023, Cilas demonstrated a new version of the Helma-P tower with a night vision camera, which is planned to be introduced in 2025. From June 12 to June 14, the French military checked the capabilities of Helma-P in the Mediterranean, attacking the goals from the Horizon Class frigate as part of the Anti-Dron program headed by the Defense Procurement Agency (DGA).

According to Naval News, the system showed high accuracy and efficiency in the fight against hostile drones over the sea. Successful tests will allow you to create a full laser weapon on the basis of the prototype. France's Navy is actively involved in the creation of powerful antitrone technology together with DGA and the Army of the Union countries, as drones pose a great threat to the sea. They can be used not only for intelligence, but also for attacks of ships or aircraft.
