According to American analysts, the flood in the Kherson region probably forced the Russian invaders in Oleshki and a bare pier to retreat. The undermining of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant significantly changed geography and topography in the Kherson region. This is stated in the report of the Institute of War Study (ISW) of June 8.

According to analysts, the pictures taken on June 7 at 04:00 show that the flood caused serious damage to prepared Russian invaders defense positions on the left bank of the Dnieper. It is reported that Russian positions were flooded in the Naked Pier and Oleshki, from which the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation fired the right bank, including Kherson. In this regard, the Russians had to retreat from there.

In addition, the flood was affected by the settlements of the Cossacks of the Legeri and Dnipro. "The destruction of the hydroelectric power station touches Russian military positions on the eastern bank of the Dnieper. The flood destroyed many Russian field fortifications on the first line, which the Russian military intended to use to protect against Ukrainian attacks," - stated in ISW. The authors of the report also noted that water flows were washed away by Russian mine fields along the coast.

According to them, over the next 72 hours the flood will probably intensify and even more change geography in Kherson region. It should be reminded that according to the statement of the head of the Joint Coordination Press Center of Defense Forces of Ukraine Natalia Humeniuk from June 7, after the event at the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, the Russians retreated from the Dnieper River to a distance of 5 to 15 kilometers, however, however, Kherson's shelling continues.
