Armed Forces counter -offensive: The ISW told about the success near the robot (map)

The Armed Forces continue the offensive in Berdyansk and Melitopol directions. The fighters keep the initiative in the Bakhmut direction. The Armed Forces of Ukraine advanced in the north of the robot in Zaporizhzhya region. This was discussed in the daily report of the Institute of War Study (ISW) for August 19.

Analysts noted that the Ukrainian military continued counter -offensive actions in three sections of the front, in particular, they are moving at the turn of Avdiivka - Donetsk and in the west of Zaporizhzhya region. With reference to the General Staff of Ukraine reported that the offensive actions continue in Berdyansk (border of Donetsk-Zaporozhye region) and Melitopol (Zaporizhzhya region) directions.

In addition, according to the spokesman of the eastern group of Ukrainian troops, Colonel Sergei Cherevatony, the Armed Forces maintain the initiative in the Bakhmut direction. The forces of defense were limited to the east of Nevelsky (west of Donetsk), showing geolocation videos published on August 16. While geolocation of August 19 shows that the Ukrainian military advanced north of the robot in the west of Zaporizhzhya region.

On August 18, anonymous officials of the United States stated that the Armed Forces were moving in the direction of Tokmak of Zaporizhzhya region and exchanging a hostile minefield north of the city. "US officials probably refer to recent Ukrainian attacks north and east of the robot (about 23 km northeast of Tokmak)," the message said.

According to ISW analysts, the Ukrainian counter-offensive in the border zone of the Donetsk-Zaporozhye region and in the west of Zaporizhzhya may have tactical importance through the structure of Russian defense lines. This can allow Ukrainian fighters to start acting on less replaced areas of the Russian defense line, which will promote Ukraine's faster success. We will remind, on August 16 in ISW confirmed the release of the harvest and success in the area of the robot.
