25 years of "cutting": the cruiser of the Russian Federation "Admiral Nakhimov" after modernization went out into the sea (video)

To spread: the Russian heavy atomic rocket cruiser of the project 1144 "Admiral Nakhimov" has released into the sea after modernization, which has been going on for over a quarter of a century. The ship was sent for repair and modernization in 1999, with the total cost of the work exceeded $ 5 billion. The ship is currently undergoing factory running tests, after which it can replace the cruiser "Petr the Great", which is being prepared for writing off. This was reported on August 18 by TASS.

According to the agency's interlocutor, the first stage of the tests will be held in the White Sea, then in a few months the maneuvers will continue in the Barents Sea. At the same time, it was noted that real work on repair and modernization of the ship began only in 2013, that is, 14 years after the cruiser was sent for repair.

Commenting on the event, Defense Express reviewers noted that the key element of modernization was the replacement of old launchers under 20 anti-ship missiles P-700 "Granite" for 80 universal UKSC 3C14, compatible with modern winged rockets "Cliber" and "ONICK". This expanded the range of possible tasks and increased the flexibility of the ship's use.

The footage shows updated radar systems that have replaced the outdated Soviet, as well as a new 130mm AK-192M sea gun, which replaced the AK-130 of the same caliber. Among the unconfirmed elements of modernization mention the SPR "shell-m" and "fort-M", as well as the prototic complexes "Packet-NK" and "Otvat". Admiral Nakhimov is one of the latter in the world atomic cruisers with a gap of more than 24 thousand tons, 250 meters long and more than 26 meters wide.

The power plant consists of two nuclear reactors with a capacity of 150 MW each, which makes the ship a unique and historically significant artifact of the Cold War. The cruiser was laid in 1983, adopted in 1988, but in 1997 was sent for repair. Analysts emphasized that in fact the ship sailed less than standing in anticipation of modernization, which gave the project a reputation of expensive "cutting" - the cost of works is estimated at more than 200 billion rubles.

The upgrade of the cruiser is also necessary to replace "Peter the Great" and maintain the image of Russia against the background of write -offs of the aircraft carrier "Admiral Kuznetsov". The Craesers of the 1144 project remain the latest surface atomic cruisers in the world and the largest non -aviaano -shock ships. Despite its high expenditures, the Russian leadership completes the project, as it is not only a military power but also a prestigious demonstration of fleet capabilities.
