Ukraine first showed a long -range version of Neptune missile: what is known about it (video)

To extend: a long-range winged rocket P-360 "Neptune", known unofficially as "long Neptune", first appeared in a public video, with its range of lesions reaches 1000 km. The rocket has been used since March to destroy the enemy ground targets. According to Defense Express, the development of this version has been known since November 2023, but until now it has never been demonstrated.

On the Independence Day of Ukraine, video with a new model appeared on the official account of the State portal "Weapons", together with other Ukrainian weapons. On the video, the rocket with X-shaped wings is not signed, and the frames of the launchers are old, made during the tests of the coastal complex "Neptune" in 2018-2020. In general, the image of "long Neptune" allows you to compare it with the anti-ship version of P-360.

The central part of the fuselage is increased in diameter to 50 cm (formerly 38 cm), and the length of the rocket exceeds 6 meters, which is 1. 5 meters longer than the original. The area of the wings and tail plumage has also increased to compensate for the larger starting mass. The nasal wrapper remained the same diameter, while the weight of the combat part is still unknown.

Defense Express notes that the State Portal "Weapons", where the video was published, was created to centralize state services and programs for weapons manufacturers and is positioned as a single brand of Ukrainian military equipment. The portal belonged to the Ministry of Strategic Industry, which, on July 21, 2025, transferred all the powers of the Ministry of Defense.

Recall that military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko noted that Ukrainian winged missiles "Long Neptune" pose a serious threat to Russian air defense. Their base was the Soviet X-35 missile, which during the USSR did not pass full trials and did not get into service. However, this choice was successful for creating a modern R-360 rocket with good characteristics.

Initially, its range was 280 km, the combat part - 150 kg, and the height of the flight on the march region - 10-300 meters, in the final area - only 3 meters, which complicates the interception. In general, the history of the rocket began in 2014 after the annexation of Crimea, when Ukraine understands the need to have its own precision anti -ship means to restrain the Russian fleet.

The R-360 was officially presented in 2015, the first successful tests were held in 2018, and in 2020 the complex was officially adopted. The rocket was demonstrated only during a full -scale war. Moreover, the Russians recently discovered the fragments of the Ukrainian Winged Neptune missile, which threatened the military object of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
