France has decided to provide Russians with Wiko smartphones: what is known about this brand
According to the Consulting company Canalys, in 2021, Wiko occupied the market share in France in 5% and was included in the top 5 of the most popular smartphones of the country with recognition of 72%. According to "Izvesti", the smartphones of the French-Chinese brand are already selling the Russian retailer "Vido-Eldorado", by the end of August they will also be exhibited on the shelves of stores "Megaphone".
This is the first case since February, when a foreign manufacturer entered the market with its smartphones, and did not leave it in response to the invasion of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. Mobile Research Group Analyst Eldar Murtazin confirmed the exit of Wiko to the Russian market and stated that Tinno Mobile Technology itself began to look for partners to work in the Russian Federation.
According to the expert, Wiko is a classic local brand that tries to promote itself in individual countries or regions. Its smartphones do not differ in particularly good characteristics, but are quite high quality. In "Vido - Eldorado" claim that the model Wiko T3 will sell at a price of 10 to 15 thousand rubles.
According to Eldar Murtazin, this smartphone belongs to the price range of 15-22 thousand rubles, which presents a wide selection of devices and brands such as Xiaomi, Realme and Samsung. Wiko went to Russia against the backdrop of Apple and Samsung smartphones. According to experts, devices of leading brands in the Russian market are almost gone, but instead they gain popularity of Chinese - in the second quarter of 2022 their share reached 65%. In the first place with a share of 30. 6% was Xiaomi.
According to the Telecomdaily CEO Denis Kuskov, inspired by the example of Wiko to Russia, other local brands, such as India or South America, may come. Most often it will still be Chinese production technique, which will only strengthen China's position in the Russian market. Earlier they wrote that Chinese Huawei stopped the sale of its equipment in Russia.
