The Su-75 fighter project is practically doomed: the reason for this is the war in Ukraine-expert
According to American analyst Caleb Larson in an article for 19Fortyfive, the plane "No fly" and in the near future, probably will not fly. Initially, it was assumed that the first Flight Su-75 would take place in 2023, but the terms were torn. The developers have not presented any full -fledged prototype, and all information about the program is limited to statements without confirmed facts.
Meanwhile, with the beginning of a full -scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine in 2022, state priorities have shifted: the main attention and resources were redefined for the production of artillery, unmanned systems and missiles that are actively used on the front. The restrictions imposed by Western countries have worsened the situation.
The sanctions have actually deprived the Russian defense industry of access to modern microchips, elements of avionics and complex electronic systems, critical for stealth technologies and multifunctional combat platforms of the new generation. This complicated both the development and the potential mass production of the fighter. In parallel, funding is reduced: a lot of budget funds are directed to social programs and the support of families of fallen servicemen.
These costs limit the opportunity to invest in expensive projects that do not have immediate combat use. Larson noted that Su-75 was interested in foreign markets primarily states that have no access to Western military equipment. However, the lack of a real model and more doubts about Russia's ability to complete the project make potential contracts unlikely.
