Ukrainian allies supported a lawsuit against Russia in the Hague Court on Genocide - the media

Ukraine has stated that there have been no risks of genocide in eastern Ukraine since 2014, and since February 2022 they have increased. More than a dozen European states, as well as Australia and Canada, supported Ukraine's challenge on Russian accusation of the Convention on Genocide to create preconditions for invasion of Ukraine. This was reported on September 20 by Reuters. Recently, Russia has asked the court to close the case.

Representatives of the aggressor country stated that the legal arguments of Kiev were "hopelessly imperfect". Moscow did not refer to a contract concerning genocide when using the term "genocide". About 32 states supported the Ukrainian position and went to court so that the instance would continue to hear the case and admit that Russia should pay the relevant reparations. Ukraine stated that there were no risks of genocide in the East.

Since 2014, the state has defended its territories from Russia -supported mercenaries. Ukraine has filed a lawsuit with the UN International Court of Justice a few days after Russia launched a full -scale war on February 24 last year. Kyiv argued that the Russian Federation abused the UN Convention on the 1948 Genocide, as it was approved after the end of World War II, since the Russians indicated that the invasion was justified to stop the alleged genocide in eastern Ukraine.

About 150 States decide to sign the Convention and are therefore interested in how the court should be interpreted. The unprecedented number of countries interfered with the International Court of Justice, demonstrating strong support for Ukraine. We will remind, on August 3 it became known that the International Court in the Hague could issue a new warrant for the arrest of the head of the Kremlin Vladimir Putin.
