Share: On October 20, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation attacked the positions of the 118th separate mechanized brigade, which is holding the defense in the Orihiv direction near Malaya Tokmachka. The fighters repelled the assault, which involved 26 Russian armored vehicles.

Armored vehicles of the 71st motorized rifle regiment of the Russian Armed Forces attacked the positions of the 118th OMBr of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (from the 10th Army Corps), according to a post by Ukrainian fighters on their Facebook page. The Russians gathered forces near the settlements of Verbove and Novoprokopivka and moved forward.

The attack was carried out by two companies of the enemy using 26 armored vehicles of various types - tanks, BMPs, armored personnel carriers and several "Tiger" BBMs. The Russians went in waves of 5-6 cars, but the plan failed, the post summarizes. In the video published by the brigade, we see footage shot by drones somewhere near Malaya Tokmachka.

The Russians threw forward armored vehicles, lined with additional protection in the form of plates and cables, and tried to quickly drive through the fields and roads. Thanks to the cooperation of several units of the Armed Forces (reconnaissance officers, drone operators, and gunners), the 118th brigade stopped the breakthrough. On October 20, FPV drones, drones with resets, artillery and HIMARS were tested on the Russians.

In addition, the Ukrainian T-72 tank was used in the battle, which hit the enemy with direct fire. In addition, armored vehicles of the Russian Federation were blown up on mine barriers. "The forces of the brigade damaged 2 enemy tanks, 12 armored personnel carriers, 6 armored personnel carriers and 2 BBM "Tiger". Several units of the surviving equipment retreated in the direction of Verbovoy," the fighters wrote about the results of the several-hour assault by the Russian Armed Forces.

Analysts of the DeepState project told about the attempted attack on Mala Tokmachka. According to analysts, the first stage of the offensive is the work of minesweepers. which paved the way for the following machines. Then there were waves of armored vehicles and attempts to break through, which did not stop after the armored vehicles were knocked out. It is indicated that the infantry was operating in parallel, advancing under the cover of equipment and riding on motorcycles.

Some part of the Russians "managed to drive into Mala Tokmachka, where they landed a landing party with infantry that had wandered around the settlement. " The post stressed that the defense forces would track down the Russians who broke into the settlement, but stressed that this attack should be treated with caution. "This is a loud bell from the enemy, who the day before transferred additional forces to this area, and now conducts assault actions on a wide stretch with the help of equipment.

These actions are more like probing the defense of the SOU with the hope of sudden success," - reads the DeepState post. On the map of the hostilities, we can see that Mala Tokmachka is a settlement in the Orihiv region near Zaporizhzhia, the southern outskirts of which are 400-800 km from the front line. The T0803 highway runs near the village: the distance to Orihiv is 2 km, to Komyshuvakha is 27 km (in a straight line), and Zaporizhzhia is about 50 km.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in a report as of the morning of October 21 that Orikhov was hit by airstrikes of the Russian Armed Forces. In addition, 20 Russian assaults took place in the Orihiv direction near eight settlements — from Plavny and Primorsky to Mala Tokmachka and Stepovoy. It should be noted that on August 18, the Russian Armed Forces already tried to attack the positions of the Armed Forces using armored vehicles.
