"European integration of MIC of Ukraine will allow the EU to provide full -fledged cycles of arms production and equipment", - MP Igor Kopitin
The People's Deputy, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Defense Industry and Technical Modernization of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Igor Kopitin, told about it in an interview with Interfax - Ukraine. Igor Kopitin noted that it is important to ensure a high level of cooperation with EU countries in the field of security and defense.
This is necessary both to improve Ukraine's position in the international arena and to ensure the modernization of the Ukrainian army and to increase its combat capability. “The intensification of cooperation between Ukrainian producers with manufacturers in the EU should definitely promote Ukraine's defense capability. I believe that such cooperation is not only profitable, but also needed the European Union.
European countries have already declared security priority as well as increasing budgets for defense. Therefore, it is also an increase in the capacity of the defense industry in Germany, the Czech Republic, France and other countries. This growth is capable of additional production capacity that Ukraine already has.
That is, the integration of the Ukrainian Security Service of Ukraine into the EU defense sector should take place within the framework of mutually beneficial cooperation, ”says Igor Kopitin. In his opinion, provided successful integration into the EU industry, the Ukrainian industry will access modern technologies, as well as investments and access to facilities in the EU.
Igor Kopitin noted that against the background of high security risks and geopolitical instability of the state constantly review their budgets for defense towards growth. Meanwhile, the capacity of companies that make ammunition, equipment and weapons are limited. Therefore, the demand in the weapons market is growing at a frantic pace, but production is not ready to satisfy it.
“However, in the next three years, we will definitely see the large -scale modernization of the production of world manufacturers of weapons and increase in volumes. After all, demand needs to be satisfied - and businesses will try to do everything to lose order, ”says Igor Kopitin. He also explained that Ukraine should strengthen its own defense complex.
“Our country needs to accelerate the modernization of MIC enterprises, it is necessary to build new enterprises, to choose the way of long contracts with international companies. Increasing the volume and codification of its own weapons will allow Ukraine to claim less import positions, which already make queues from other countries that are afraid of the beginning of new conflicts. Meanwhile, its own production should cover the needs of Ukraine itself in defense products.
This is the main thing. However, there is the second component of our goal: to go out with their products and to fix themselves in the world weapons market, ”says Igor Kopitin. The People's Deputy adds: "Since a weapon request will grow, it can be an incentive to work in foreign orders in the future, that is, to be a significant player in the international market, to have their own share of contracts with other states.
" Earlier it was reported that the production potential of the Ukrainian Security Service of Ukraine has increased from $ 12 to $ 35 billion over the past year, so Ukraine now produces more than 30% of weapons and ammunition that they are used in the battlefield of its defense forces in the fight against the Russian aggressor.
