New radars turned Soviet missiles into "most powerful weapons" of Ukraine - expert

Although the C-200 rocket was developed in the 1960s during the USSR, Ukrainians managed to modernize it significantly and now it is very difficult to knock it down. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are used by the old Soviet anti-aircraft missile complexes of C-200 for ground-based attacks due to the radars of the new generation.

Forbes writes about it, according to Trenot Telenko, a former auditor for the Quality Agency for Management of Defense Contracts of the United States, well acquainted with C-200 and his 5V28 missile. In his opinion, the Armed Forces turned an eight-tonne planning missile 5V28 C-200, which the Soviet CB-1 weapons office developed to beat US bombers with nuclear warheads, to the most powerful Ukrainian weapon of deep blow with the help of a new head of self-relief.

The expert believes that Ukrainians could put on them onboard radar station (radar) from Grim-2 missiles, which Ukrainian KB "Southern" develops as a replacement of existing ballistic missiles "Point-U". The 5V28 rocket is huge and there is probably a place for a more small and modern Grim-2 warhead, Telenko says. He says that a millimeter range radar can be added to the rocket, which will allow you to change the trajectory more accurately during the flight to the target.

With the modern self-resolution head, the C-200 complex becomes a powerful shock weapon with a distance of 402 kilometers, and if you believe the "hysterics" of Russian propagandists, then 600 kilometers at all, notes the expert. Successful blows to the Armed Forces on military sites in the depths of Russia should not be too accused of their air defense, says Telenko.

In his opinion, most air defense products will be difficult to hit the 5V28 rocket, which is approaching and which at a maximum speed of 4 Mach can overcome the maximum flight range in just five minutes. Even the best American air defense products should be a little lucky to hit the rocket flying at such a speed. Although, for the sake, the expert said, Ukrainian air defense has successfully used American Patriot missiles to intercept Russian dagger missiles with speed exceeds 5 Mach.
