Ukraine and Russia are fond of land work: experts found many shortcomings in them
Former adviser to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the head of the analytical organization "Ukrainian Center for Security and Cooperation" Sergey Kuzan pointed to two main problems related to land drones. The first problem is the insufficient number of such systems in Ukrainian units. The second problem is the analyst's vulnerability of robotic platforms. Terrestrial drones are the same target for UAVs as armored vehicles, but they can be drowned with radio -electronic fighting (ETB).
For his part, Russian defense expert at the American Analytical Center for Naval Analysis Samuel Bendett indicated that the development of large types of land drones is very expensive. In addition, most robotic platforms are non -autonomous, which is why it is more difficult to use in battle.
"Since there is no truly autonomous UGV that can move to the goal on its own, remote control of the vehicle today also help drones that provide tactical observation, helping to direct it to the intended destination during logistics, supply and evacuation operations" , - Samuel Bendett explained. Despite these shortcomings, land platforms have shown themselves well in many missions. Sergey Kuzan noted the successful use of robots in demining and transporting goods.

The article also states that for the first time unearthly drones appeared on the battlefield in Ukraine in 2022. Kyiv approved the use of land robots in military operations in 2016, and in the Russian Federation, several types of such platforms were developed in the Russian Federation.
