Wants to help "fight Putin": British expatate serves in the Armed Forces

Former MP of the UK Parliament Jack Lopressa joined the Ukrainian International Legion. The official already has military experience: he used to serve in the UK Army in the rank of Corporal. Jack Lopressi, a former deputy chairman of the Conservative Party, joined the ranks of the Ukrainian International Legion to help in the war with Russia. After the losing the mandate through the loss of his party in the UK elections in the UK, the man decided to go to Ukraine, first - to help the charity.

However, its purpose, it turns out, was to join the international legion - the military unit of the Armed Forces, where volunteers who are citizens of other countries serve. The Losty told this during an interview for The Independent on February 2. The former official started serving in the Armed Forces in November 2024. He confessed that he had to wait to find a relevant unit in which his skills would be useful for Ukrainians in the fight against the Russian Federation.

"I applied for entry to the Legion in November, but it took time to find the best unit in which my experience and skills could be used," Lopress said. Now the expatate does an auxiliary work: it is engaged in external ties, weapons, diplomacy. He also actively works with veterans and helps Ukrainian charitable organizations. When performing his duties, the British often travels to Ukraine, in particular recently visited Kharkiv and Poltava.

During an interview, Lopresses told him why he decided to make such a choice and help Ukraine. According to him, Ukrainians fight not only for their freedom, but also for Europe and the rest of the free world. He is convinced that Russia is now a threat to all, so Ukraine needs to help. "If Putin wins in Ukraine, we all know that he will not stop there," - says the former politician. It is worth noting that the Lopity visited Ukraine before he became a volunteer in the Legion.
