"Can lead to an accident": Russians violate the operating rules

According to Energoatom, for more than a year, the invaders have deliberately violate a number of basic requirements for the operation of the power unit, including ignoring the planned schedule of maintenance of safety systems, sabotage of the rehabilitation equipment and current repair of equipment.

If the Russian side refuses to carry out the procedure of "cold stop" of the fifth power unit of the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZPP), this can lead to an accident and potentially a large -scale release of radiation. This is stated in the statement of "Energoatom". According to the information obtained from the energy atom, the unit # 5 of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant was put into operation more than 34 years ago.

Given the aging and wear of the equipment, it is necessary to carry out regular and quality maintenance and repair to ensure safe operation of power units. Without such service and repair measures, operation becomes dangerous. Since the commencement of the full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, the NPP unit continued to work at the energy levels of power. However, since September 2022, the occupation administration of the station keeps it in a state of hot stop.

It is reported that the occupiers violate a number of basic requirements concerning the operation of the power unit for more than a year. These violations include ignoring the planned schedule of maintenance of safety systems, sabotage of overhaul of the reactor compartment equipment, as well as the current repair of thermal mechanical, electrical equipment of the turbine department and control systems of the power unit.

In addition to the previously mentioned violations, it should also be noted that part of the equipment on the unit # 5 has reached the deadline for operation and requires immediate replacement. This is especially true for more than 1000 units of thermal mechanical equipment and more than 100 units of electrical equipment. The complex of these violations has serious consequences and many times increases the risk of failure of systems that can lead to an emergency.

In this case, the countries of Europe may be affected by radiation. "While the invaders are in the ZPE, the threat remains. To ensure the safety of the entire continent, the largest atomic object of Europe must be de -bundled and returned to the legal operator as soon as possible," - summed up in Energoatom. We will remind, on July 6 it was reported that on the reactor of Zaporizhzhya NPP found unknown objects, which are visible from satellite images.
