Many Ukrainian women cannot find a couple because of war and mobilization of men - nyt

There is a rather small percentage of men ready for relationships and family creation in Ukraine. It is not easy to find a couple: tens of thousands of people have already died, are at the front, fled from the country or hide from mobilization. The full -scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine has turned almost all aspects of everyday life. Many Ukrainian women cannot find men because of war and mobilization, writes the American newspaper The New York Times.

"The search for love may seem secondary compared to the missile strokes of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, switching off electricity and lack of food. Many Ukrainians say that they need romantic relationships to cope with injuries in life in a country in a state of war," the authors of the material say. Tens of thousands of men were killed, others are at the front, others have been fled from the country, the fourth do not leave their homes, fearing forced mobilization on the street.

In large cities, such as in Kiev, the number of men has decreased markedly. And in small villages, the call for military service has devastated the male population, supplements the publication. "There is a small percentage of men who are ready for relationships and want them," says Ukrainian psychotherapist and sexologist Margarita Stelmashova. The war largely complicated the development of long -term relationships.

It is difficult for soldiers who experience psychological stress into intimate relationships. Women are afraid to meet with servicemen who could get a fighting injury because of the risk of being killed, sexologists say. According to the Government, in 2023, Ukraine recorded the worst indicator in 10 years by the number of born children and the second worst indicator for marriages.
