Twitter "thawed" Putin's accounts and Foreign Ministry - investigation

After the start of the Russian-Ukrainian War, Twitter stopped showing the official page of the Russian President, the Foreign Ministry and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the United Kingdom. However, as of the ex-director of the company confirmed to investigators, all restrictions from the pages of official departments of the Russian Federation have been lifted.

On the social network Twitter, all restrictions on the account of Russian President Vladimir Putin were lifted after the social network was bought by businessman Ilon Musk. This was reported by The Telegraph on Friday, April 7. Twitter testing showed that in recommendations to other users, the system issues an official account of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the United Kingdom.

All of them were restricted after February 24, 2022 with the beginning of a full -scale invasion of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation into Ukraine. Then Twitter stated that he would not spread or recommend government accounts owned by countries that restrict access to free information and participate in armed interstate conflicts. This meant that Russian accounts and pages would no longer recommend users.

However, the tests conducted by The Telegraph last week showed that Russian state -owned accounts appear at the top of some search results and are reflected in the proposals of other accounts. The former Twitter leader confirmed to reporters that this happened after the cancellation of last year's events. "It would be extremely unlikely that this change would happen by accident or without the knowledge and management and staff of the company," he said.

We will remind, on March 6 it became known that Twitter stopped protecting users from Russian propaganda. According to the Air Force, Ilon Musk released several thousand employees, after which the company has virtually no specialists who were engaged in moderation of content on the social network. We also wrote that the American businessman and founder of SpaceX Ilon Musk again angry Ukrainians with repetition of nakes of Russian propaganda.
