Russia increases the release of drones and rockets: ISW explains the Kremlin's plans
"Russia continues to produce and accumulate rockets and drones for blows in Ukraine, demonstrating Russia's unchanged dedication to war with military means," analysts say. ISW experts refer to Ukrainian military intelligence as confirming that Russia is actively preparing for a large -scale war. In particular, according to GUR, as of mid -May 2025, Russian troops have accumulated over 13,000 missiles of different types.
Namely: at the same time, according to military intelligence, Russia produces from 150 to 200 units of new air attacks a month. This rate of the Russian Federation not only supports an existing arsenal, but also actively replenishes stocks for future blows. In particular, the monthly issue of missiles is: analysts say that by June 1, the intensity of Russia's air attacks against Ukraine has increased constantly, in particular with widespread use of missile weapons.
However, the situation changed after the SBU special operation called "spider web", which resulted in the destruction of part of the strategic bombers of the Russian Federation. This blow on key elements of aviation potential significantly limited the ability of the Russian army to make large -scale strikes with winged missiles from the air.
Nevertheless, the threat of air attacks is preserved: there is still a number of strategic aircraft at Moscow's disposal, and therefore the ability to strike rocket shocks from the air throughout Ukraine. At this stage of the war, Russia focused not so much on the use of air base missiles, but on massive attacks with drones, in particular models of a distant radius of action.
According to the Armed Forces Command, a considerable part of such drones - about half - are imitators designed to overload Ukrainian air defense systems. The rest are Shahaned Fighting Fighting Reds, which have long become a major element of Russia's shock bags. With regard to rocket strokes, the Russian Federation has increasingly resorted to the use of landing missiles instead of winged missiles released from aircraft.
ISW believes that Russia's domestic rockets and drones, as well as adaptation of its impact strategy, are elements of long -term preparation for protracted confrontation with Ukraine. In addition, these actions may indicate the Kremlin's ambitions to prepare for possible armed conflict, including NATO countries. We will remind, on June 1 the SBU conducted the operation "Web" for the destruction of aircraft involved in rocket shelling of Ukraine.
