The Ukrainian Long Neptune missile will allow you to hit previously unattainable goals - analysts
The Long Neptune rocket was created to defeat objects in the deep rear of the enemy, which were previously unattainable to the Ukrainian forces. Now in the hands of defense forces there are weapons with a range, which is estimated at about 1000 km. According to Army Recognition analysts, it greatly expands the capabilities of Ukrainian means of a long strike.
For example, Russian authorities have previously linked explosions at a refining plant in Tuapse and an energy facility in Bryansk with the use of this system. The new version differs from the basic anti-ship missile P-360 "Neptune" with increased dimensions. The length of the housing without the accelerator exceeds 6 meters (1. 5 m larger than the original model), and the diameter of the fuselage is increased from 380 mm to about 500 mm.
These changes allow you to accommodate more fuel supply and increase the weight of the combat part. According to The War Zone analysts, the weight of the combat part reaches 300-350 kg against 150 kg in the standard variant. The wings and plumage of the new modification have also been increased to compensate for increased mass.
To guide the rocket uses an inertial and satellite navigation system on a march area and a passive infrared or opto-electronic sensor in the final phase, which provides high accuracy of strokes in infrastructure objects. At the same time, the rocket retains the sound speed of the flight (about 0. 8 Mach), but thanks to the increased fuel tank, it is able to overcome the distance of up to 1000 km, in the air for more than an hour.
This will allow the Ukrainian forces to impress the enemy's unattainable objects earlier. In this case, it is compatible with the existing starting installations of the RK-360MC, which allows it to be used without creating a new infrastructure, although the modernization of trigger containers is possible. Western observers noted that according to the basic version of the P-360 "Neptune" is close to the American rocket Harpoon and the Russian X-35.
The "Long Neptune" version is comparable to Russian "caliber" or American Tomahawk. Unlike the supersonic P-800 "Onyx" and Brahmos, both Neptune modifications remain permanent, but the low-percent of the flight profile and improved guidance systems increase their efficiency. We will remind, initially the Neptune rocket was developed as a high -precision anti -ship, but later the weapon was modernized for striking for land purposes.
