"Pursuit No longer": Readed in prisons of Russians will not be released by the end of the war - BBC

Relatives of the recruited are shared that the occupiers now receive simply conditional dismissal, and contracts for service continue automatically. They have the same rights as in ordinary mobilized ones. For a year and a half, Russia has been sending prisoners to Ukraine. If they had to serve six months earlier, now no one will go to the end of the conflict. BBC writes about it. The material emphasizes that earlier citizens from prison lured the prospect of pardon and conviction.

They needed to sign a contract for several months, after which they could have been free. Now this practice has gone back and prisoners are given only conditional release, and the service will continue until the end of the war. The Russians say that those who were taken to the front in October, there is a conditional release, not a pardon. Accordingly, no one will let them go. "You are released conditionally on the documents.

Everything is just like contractors, but there is no pardon, and you serve your end," the message reads. It is noteworthy that the former head of the PEC "Wagner" Yevhen Prigogin was engaged in recruiting of prisoners from the summer of 2022, and after his probable death, the Ministry of Defense joined the case. Now, as noted in the publication, this is done exclusively by the military.

The main part of the prisoners of prisoners was grouped into special troops with the general name "Storm Z", but since September last year they began to be recorded in the "Storm V" units, journalists noticed. They are scattered throughout the front line - from Bakhmut to the Zaporozhye region. One of the residents of the Transbaikal region anonymously said that her husband was so recruited in early autumn. At the same time, she refused to name the article for which he served his sentence.

"But the article is difficult. In February this year it would be 15 as it sits, it remained four more years. In the colony, the conditions were normal, it would be possible to sit on, but it [departure to the front] was our choice. There were no other options to get home faster, "the woman says. At the same time, his contract is not for six months, but all year long. After its completion, it will be automatically extended, that is, the home will not be able to return.

Other relatives of the occupiers who are fighting in "Storm V" also share that the prisoner will have to stay at the front until the end of the war. This is explained by the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin since September 2022. He actually forbade to break contracts with servicemen, even if they end. This rule applies to partial mobilization that has not officially ended.

"Now, Russian prisoners are fighting on the same conditions as ordinary contractors and, for example, mobilized, which will not be allowed to return home by the end of the war," the statement said. We will remind, on January 12 it was reported that the majority of prisoners who returned to Russia during the last exchange were ex-prisoners.

According to journalists, 73% of prisoners of war, taken by Russia, former residents of the colonies, convicted of murder, abduction of people and other particularly serious crimes. It is claimed that Ukraine was ready to exchange more contractors and mobilized. On January 13, information appeared that the Russian authorities specifically disables heating in prisons so that the Russians would more often agree to fight in Ukraine.
