Fighting drones: Russians began to put on their UAPs of the rear view (photo)
The first case of the use of such a camera was known for the fighters of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, who were able to "land" Russian UAV with a miniature device installed. Blogger Sergei Flash Beskrestnov reported on social networks. In the published photo, you can see the Russian drone, probably models Zala 421, equipped with a custom device of Russian production.
This device has RHCP antennas, which are commonly used in an FPV-aroma and connected to the camera, which provides inspection in the rear half. As the Defense Express observers noted, only about two weeks have passed from the proposal to the implementation of this idea in Russia. The first mention of such counteraction measures appeared on the Russian profile Telegram channel, after which their practical implementation began.
Experts, meanwhile, emphasize that despite the cameras, the reconnaissance UAVs themselves cannot perform maneuvers characteristic of fighter jets or pilot aircraft, which significantly limits their maneuverability.
However, one of the tactics can be an attempt to break away, as the FPV-Aircraft flight time is limited, and the faster the reconnaissance UAV is moving, the more energy is spent on the maneuver of the anti-aircraft drone, which pursues it, which accelerates the discharge of its battery. In the future, we can expect that Russian operators will expand the arsenal of countermeasures.
One of the possible directions may be the installation of small systems of radio electronic wrestling (HRV) on UAVs, which will be able to suppress the FPV-Dron control signal at the most common frequencies. "In any case, the overall effectiveness of such a decision remains question. Earlier it was reported that the Ukrainian FPV drones have become a big problem for enemy helicopters. During the Kursk operation, our operators managed to impress with the help of a drone enemy Mi-8.
