The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have changed the tactics of strikes on gas storage facilities in Ukraine: what could be the consequences

Share: Russia has changed its tactics and started targeting gas transmission facilities, on which the supply of cities directly depends. It is not about strategic objects, but the enemy is checking how much it will be possible to reduce the capacity of gas transportation to key heat supply facilities. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Mykola Kolesnyk during the RBC-Ukraine "Energy that keeps Ukraine" forum.

"We see that the enemy has begun to attack some objects that depend on the distribution of natural gas to a specific settlement," Kolesnyk noted. In response to the threat, the physical protection of these objects is strengthened to prevent destruction. The deputy minister also reported that Ukraine plans to actively import gas, compensating for losses due to strikes on production. "The enemy struck a blow at production. There are consequences.

And the difference of what was lost, in fact, is the goal of displacing it with imports," he emphasized. Kolesnyk added that the attacks continue: in the beginning of October alone, the country recorded more than six attacks on gas infrastructure. At the same time, Ukraine has already completed 99. 5% of the plan to inject gas into underground storages before the heating season — that's about 13. 2 billion cubic meters, but imports will continue due to a decrease in domestic production.

We will remind that People's Deputy, former Minister of Housing and Communal Affairs Oleksiy Kucherenko said that Ukraine may face a shortage of gas in the winter, so the government will delay the start of the heating season as much as possible. In autumn, the Russian Armed Forces intensified their attacks on energy facilities. As a result of the large-scale shelling on October 16, the company "DTEK Naftogaz" was forced to stop the work of gas production facilities in the Poltava region.
