Putin deliberately pushed the Russian Defense with Prigogin: WP called the goal of the dictator
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation developed a plan for discrediting the leader of the Wagner terrorist PEC. This was reported by The Washington Post. Journalists refer to confidential documents received from the Pentagon and published on the network. It is stated that representatives of the military department did not want to publicly oppose Prigogin, so they decided to campaign on his discredit through intermediate persons.
"Officials initially stressed that if the Ministry of Defense is going to counteract Prigogine's public statements, then they should find allies with equal status to combat Zagogin, not to do it themselves," the documents read. According to the source, Prigogine tried to persuade Putin to continue the recruitment of prisoners to include them in the ranks of the Wagner PEC, as well as to teach the newly mobilized and actively search for foreign mercenaries, especially from Afghanistan.
The fused documents state that Putin ordered Priszhin himself to address these issues about the Ministry of Defense, actually joining his generals. According to analysts, the Kremlin deliberately allowed Prigogine to criticize officials, as it corresponded to Putin's strategy on the division of political territory and battle field in Ukraine into separate competing groups, so that none of them became too strong.
The publication is quoted by a senior researcher at the Institute for Foreign Policy in Philadelphia Rob Lee, who believes that Prigogine did not always present a problem for the Kremlin. "Putin loves to use competing groups as a way of preserving power, but it is very harmful in military operations," the analyst explained. We will remind, on May 5, Yevgeny Prigogin complained about the critical shortage of ammunition at the Wagner PEC.
He showed the troupes of many fighters who died in just a day, May 4, and swore to the leadership of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation: Minister of Defense Sergei Shoig and the head of the General Staff Vasyl Gerasimov. On the same day, Ramzan Kadyrov proposed to replace Wagner PEC in Bakhmut by Akhmat detachment. According to him, Chechen fighters are ready to occupy the city for several hours.
