Insiders shared that Russian officials began to threaten African students and workers from all over the world by the fact that their visa would not be extended if they did not agree to join the army.

Some Africans who arrived in Russia had to choose between deportation and fighting in Ukraine. Some of them chose for themselves the second option not to return home. "Some of these people were able to bribe officials to continue to stay in the country and still avoid military service," said an anonymous European official. Bloomberg continued that the practice of using migrants and students in the war appeared at the beginning of the confrontation.

This type of hostile servicemen is experienced on the battlefield of particularly high losses, as they are often directed to risky offensive maneuvers to protect more prepared units. The journalists sent an email to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs asking the incident, but did not answer there.
