"Like to forget about the war": it is increasingly difficult for Ukraine to get financial assistance of the event - the Ministry of Finance

According to profile minister Sergei Marchenko, Kiev has to make twice as much effort to get support from international partners. It is increasingly difficult for Ukraine to enlist international financial support, as officials from key advice are beginning to devote more time to future elections. It is unprofitable for our country and increased geopolitical tension.

The Minister of Finance Minister Sergey Marchenko told this in the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank meeting in Marrakesh, Reuters reports. So, according to him, Ukraine is now making twice as much effort to support partners compared to the latest annual meetings in April. "I see that partners are very tired, they would like to forget about the war, but it is still ongoing," he said.

He noted that since Russia does not give up its invaders, it is very important for Ukraine to enlist financial support from the event to cover the budget deficit, which, according to the minister, will be $ 43 billion in 2024. According to Sergei Marchenko, geopolitical processes and domestic political context in different countries weaken the support of governments. All through the upcoming elections in the US and the European Union, which will take place next year.

"We already have some obligations, such as $ 5. 4 billion under the IMF program, and we expect obligations from Japan and the United Kingdom, and of course we count on our key partners and allies - the USA and the European Union" , - Marchenko said. It should be noted that in August 2023, the Minister of Finance called the international assistance for Ukraine for the coming year. According to him, negotiations with the allies continue. "It was so too last year.

And this year we will be able to finance all expenditures, including the expenditures of the Security and Defense Sector. The next year we are negotiating with our partners, and I hope we can provide funding for all our needs," - said he. The Minister also predicted the following sources of external revenues: we will remind that the House of Representatives of the United States blocked $ 300 million for Ukraine on September 28, which should go to help in the war with Russia.
