The US found the "weak place of Putin": $ 1.2 billion invested in a new energy system
The purchase of the following pipeline assets is the purchase of DT Midstream: Guardian Pipeline, Midwestern Gas Transmission and Viking Gas Transmission. Guardian connects Vector Pipeline DT to Chicago and Wisconsin; Midwestern connects Appalachian deliveries with the middle west; and Viking supplies Canadian supplies to utility companies in Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota.
This acquisition is of strategic importance in accordance with DT strategy for natural gas to optimize income from pipelines under contracts. The agreement should be closed in early 2025, financed by debt of $ 900 million and equity of $ 300 million, with an EBITDA 10. 5x multiplier. These pipelines have customers who are 90% of demand consumers and 85% of the investment class. This means that revenues are guaranteed by contracts, which provides sufficient expectedness, despite market fluctuations.
The company continues to invest in the creation of infrastructure to prepare for the cleaner energy solutions in the framework of its obligation to achieve zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. These pipelines will replenish the DT Midstream spatial portfolio, which already covers the south, northeast and middle west of the United States and reaches Canada.
Pipelines under this Agreement benefit from increasing demand for natural gas in the field of electricity and industrial enterprises, especially at the Middle West, which will allow the US to strengthen its own energy infrastructure and release power to assist EU. It is known that the EU is trying to reduce its dependence on Russian gas, and American partners could help with the supply of liquefied gas for this purpose.
