Christopher Camp noted that Ukraine ensures the rights of national minorities and indigenous peoples in accordance with European and international standards. He also assured of his readiness to continue to provide all necessary assistance, including expert assistance. Separately, during the meeting, issues related to the Crimean Tatar people were discussed.
Today is the Day of Resistance to the Occupation of Crimea and 12 years since the beginning of the war, which was unleashed by Russia against Ukraine. The Ukrainian side spoke about systematic violations of human rights in the temporarily occupied territories, in particular in Crimea, forced relocations and, in fact, repeated deportations of the Crimean Tatar people and other national minorities by the Russian occupation regime.
At least 284 people were prosecuted in the temporarily occupied Crimea, of which 159 were representatives of the Crimean Tatar people. Ukraine calls for increased international pressure on Russia to release everyone it holds captive. The meeting also discussed the need to support the national identity of Ukrainians who, due to the Russian war, were forced to seek temporary refuge abroad.
