The Kremlin seeks partnerships with China: in ISW evaluated the consequences of Putin and Jinping's meeting

In Beijing, the Kremlin head declared his desire to deepen Russian-Chinese economic and political ties, but did not announce any practical changes. The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, obviously, was unable to influence China and establish the level of relations desired for Moscow. The Russian Federation receives civilian drones from China, which can be used in the war against Ukraine. Analysts of the Institute for War Study (ISW) made this assumption on October 18.

"Putin's visit to China and a meeting with Xi Jinping seems to have not led to any significant changes in China's unwillingness to establish the Kremlin's desired level of bilateral relations or to any breakthroughs in the degree of Chinese military support of Russia," the ISW report reads. Putin stated that the close coordination of the Russian foreign policy and the PRC is a priority, necessary in "current difficult conditions".

According to him, economic cooperation between Russia and China is an integral part of strengthening the economic, technological and financial sovereignty of Russia. Analysts noted that Putin did not focus on Russian-Chinese security in the field of security, possibly because of China's restraint on the boundless partnership that Russia wants to establish.

Russian finance minister Anton Siluanov, in particular, stated on October 18 that almost all Russian civilian drones were delivered from China, and stated that the Russian government seeks to increase the domestic production of such UAV to 41 percent by 2025. Earlier, waswed that China often exports double -use equipment to Russia, including civilian drones that Russian troops can use in the battlefield in Ukraine.
