Spied in favor of the Russian Federation: in Austria, the former scout was detained

The detained Egisto OTT, according to journalists, could transfer the contents of the mobile phones of Austrian top officials to the Russians. On suspicion of espionage in Austria, law enforcement officers detained the former employee of the already disbanded Federal Office to protect the Constitution and fight terrorism (BVT). This was reported by Der Standard. The Austrian Prosecutor's Office said that the detained Egisto OTT is currently in the detention center and is in custody.

Law enforcement officers have been investigating the proceedings since 2017 on charges of abusing office, the implementation of secret intelligence, which caused harm to Austria and violating state secrets. Arrest was preceded by recent information that OTT transmitted some information to Russian spies. This applies to the content of high -ranking mobile phones. His former son -in -law, which is believed, only contributed to this crime, was also arrested.

In the premises of both detained, law enforcement officers conducted searches. OTT recently got into newspaper headlines in connection with the figure of Jan Marsalek, a former member of the German board of the German company Wirecard. He helped Marsalek in the creation of a spy cell for Russia as part of BVT. Otto, together with the former head of the BVT department Martin Weiss, gathered the relevant information for Marsalek and Russia, relying on his previous activity.
