Latvia will not issue humanitarian visas to the Russians that avoid mobilization

The country's authorities will also abolish the restrictions on the border crossing for Russian citizens with Schengen visas since September 19. Latvia Foreign Minister Edgar Rinkevich stated that the country would not issue humanitarian visas to the citizens of the Russian Federation who avoid mobilization for security reasons.

The Minister of Foreign Minister Latvia published his statement on Twitter that the authorities would also abolish the restrictions on the border crossing for Russian citizens with Schengen visas since September 19. "For the sake of safety, Latvia will not issue humanitarian or other visas to Russian citizens who evade mobilization, and will not change restrictions on the border crossing, introduced from September 19 for Russian citizens with Schengen visas," Rinkevich wrote.

Recall that since September 19, the Baltic countries: Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, as well as Poland have restricted entry to the Schengen area for Russian citizens with EU visas that come for tourist, cultural, sports and business purposes. The exceptions were only dissidents, owners of species for accommodation, diplomats, and even for travelers to Kaliningrad and from it.
