They could not negotiate. The EU will not impose a price limit for Russian gas - Guardian

The European Union will not impose limits of prices for Russian or any imported gas. The EU will not impose limits of prices for Russian gas, but insists on the introduction of taxes on "excess" profit of energy companies. About it writes The Guardian, citing a project of the European Commission Regulation. Video of the Video Document, which has been read, does not mention the price limit for Russian or any other imported gas.

It is noted that a week earlier, the EU countries were unable to negotiate. At the same time, the EU will expected unforeseen high profits of fossil fuel companies, with a separate restriction on the income of low carbon electricity producers. According to the newspaper, the Chairman of the European Commission Ursula von der Layen will publish a European plan to combat increasing electricity prices on Wednesday, September 14. It is also reported that the final text of the document may change.

At the same time, the draft document indicates that the European Commission is in doubts about obtaining sufficient support from the EU Member States to impose restrictions on the price of Russian gas. In the document, the commission estimates a fivefold increase in the profit of oil, gas and coal companies in 2022. It indicates that excess and unexpected income is not the result of any economic or investment decisions.
