They argue with the actions of the Russian Federation: in Lviv they want to ban local officials from running social networks

Share: Deputies of the Lviv City Council call for a ban on LMR officials from sharing work information on their own pages in social networks, arguing that Russians can use the data for their own purposes. However, the deputies did not comment on the restriction of their own activity. Instead, they suggest that officials create separate official accounts in social networks, and they want to entrust the administration of these pages to the press service. These days, on the LMR website, deputies registered a draft resolution entitled "On the procedure for public communication by officials of the Lviv City Territorial Community during the period of martial law in Ukraine. " It refers to the creation of official pages for city council officials, including the mayor, his deputies, secretaries and other persons.

At the same time, the project prohibits officials from publishing any data related to the performance of their work duties on their own pages in social networks. The explanatory note to the resolution explains the deputies' arguments regarding such a decision. In particular, it is noted there that the aggressor country often uses official data to carry out information attacks against Ukraine.

As a demonstrative example of similar cases, the MPs attack the Sparrow Park Lviv industrial park of the Russian Armed Forces. The argument states that after the attack, the Russians began to spread narratives on the network that the attack was allegedly caused by posts posted on their social media pages by Lviv officials.

"Although such statements do not have any real basis, their very appearance demonstrates how even regular reports about the activities of the LMR can be twisted by the enemy and used to incite internal quarrels," the explanatory note reads. The publication notes that the use of this particular example to argue for the introduction of the ban is incomprehensible, since the industrial park has its own website, and information about its activities has been circulating for several years.

Instead, as an example of the separation of personal and work in social networks, Lviv deputies cited the page of US President Donald Trump. The American leader has an official page where he communicates about work issues, and uses personal accounts to express his own opinion. It is also stated in the argumentation that the officials of the LMR in the conditions of martial law in the country have data, in particular, data on the objects of the city's critical infrastructure.
