Warsaw is preparing for the worst: Poland develops space defense against Russia

To spread: Russia's war in Ukraine has changed Europe. NATO Eastern European members who are closest to hostilities and secretly support Ukraine against Russia, are quickly preparing for the fact that, in their opinion, the Kremlin's next step: NATO attack will be inevitable.

The greatest force in this category of countries is Poland, and in Warsaw it is believed that the attack will be directed against them - a reasonable assumption, given the difficult relations between the two countries and their centuries -old mutual hostility. About it writes in his article, which is translated by Focus, military analyst Brandon J.

Weikhert, since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Warsaw has been trying to increase its defense capability, modernize the army and invest in new opportunities that will allow it to resist the Russians. One of the systems that Poland expects is located in strategically important outer space. In 2023, the Polish government concluded a contract with the European Airbus Aerospace Company for the supply of two military intelligence satellites, which should be released by orbit by 2027.

At the end of 2024, Warsaw supplemented this order by buying four micro -satellites created on the Hypersat platform of the Polish firm Cretech, for an additional payment of $ 134 million. Cretech micro -satellites are especially successful in Warsaw. Poland is a secondary state with a significant but limited defense budget.

Not having such enormous opportunities as the United States, Russia and China, the middle states should rely on cheaper micro -satellites to enhance their space warfare, not wait for the opportunity to buy larger and more expensive systems. Indeed, these four Creotech micro -satellites are a great example of how the average state can literally jump above the head.

These systems are designed for low -land orbit (LEO), which will allow to provide a reliable and continuous inspection of all points of the Earth. Satellites will be equipped with optical devices capable of receiving and transmitting data with images of the Earth in the near infrared and visible light ranges. Last year, a recently established Agency for Geoplastoral Intelligence and Satellite Services launched a recently established work in Warsaw.

It is an agency, as it follows from its name, will control the small but growing satellite potential of Poland. In particular, it will coordinate the use of these satellites to solve the most important military tasks directed primarily against the Russians. All these steps are leading to Poland's armed forces more efficient and powerful battle against Russia, which is more and more effective and more effective in the modern battlefield.

In conditions where the Armed Forces of Ukraine are not in the best position, and the Trump administration has doubts about its obligations to Europe, which threatens the stability and future of the current architecture of Europe, Poland is advisable to expand their capabilities as much. Space is a space where the wars of the future will win.

Having placed several advanced systems there, even for the sake of situational awareness and more efficient management, Warsaw gives its small army more likely to stand against Russia. Brandon J.
